In Case You Haven't Heard ...

A Quick Serving of News and Gossip from the Music Biz

Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank are making a move similar to Gerald LeVert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill, members of LSG. The trio is forming a new R&B supergroup, appropriately called TGT. The three solo stars, whose brands of crooning are often described as sexy and targeted towards women, will tour this summer and hold auditions for the group’s fourth member.

Also touring this summer will be Jordin Sparks, who on Wednesday became the sixth winner of American Idol. Following in the footsteps of previous winners, Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks, Sparks will tour with the other finalists from the show’s top ten, along with being given a recording contract within the RCA Music Group. Sparks’ first single will be her rendition of this year’s Idol song, “This Is My Now.”

Flashing back, a new autobiography by Rick James debuted this month. The Confessions of Rick James: Memoirs Of A Super Freak is a series of “confessions” James penned while in jail between 1993 and 1995. The book has also been picked up by screenplay writer, Sheldon Turner, for possible translation into a motion picture.

Sometimes actress and Destiny’s Child member, Kelly Rowland, is scheduled to release her second album, Ms. Kelly, on July 3. The set, led by the single “Like This” featuring Eve, can be preordered on www.welovekelly.com/store/, with the first 250 such orders being autographed by Rowland.

Junior Senior also has an album coming out, specifically on August 14, but the disc has actually been out internationally since 2005. Hey Hey My My Yo Yo features the duo’s collaborations with artists such as Le Tigre, Peaches, the Velvelettes, Spooner Oldham and the B-52sCindy Wilson and Kate Pierson.

50 Cent has pushed back the release of his studio album from June 26 to September. Guest appearances include Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls, Robin Thicke, Mary J. Blige, Justin Timberlake, Akon and Eminem. 50 is also running a text message voting campaign for fans to choose the song he will perform at the upcoming BET Awards.
